Heat treatment

термообработка

The Research and Development enterprise “Centr Tochnoi Mechaniki” performs heat treatment of metal and alloy products at the request of the customer.

Types of the heat treatments that are performed and its use

Heat treatment is performed to improve or change the properties, qualities and characteristics of the manufactured products, enhance physical and mechanical stability and, as a result, to improve the performance characteristics of products. The most common types of heat treatment are annealing, hardening, tempering, ageing, and processing with low temperatures. Heat treatment can be performed in the middle of the process or at the closing phase of manufacturing, depending on the metalworking process.

Annealing

Processing of metals with high temperatures, glowing of the part and certain time keeping to obtain particular properties. Depending on the metal and the targeted final result, the heating time is different. Annealing changes the structure of metals, reduces the hardness of the alloys, which makes the workpiece more malleable in metalworking, makes the metal structure more uniform by removing unnecessary impurities. Cooling occurs slowly without removing the part from the furnace.

The process is complex and multifaceted, depending on the planned result and processing technology, there are several sub-types of annealing: primary, white, full, partial, bright, diffusion and others.

Air-hardening

The process is similar to annealing and has the same purpose, but when normalized, the product is cooled in air.

Hardening

Heating of the metal to a certain temperature, above the critical norms, keeping the specified time and rapid cooling. Hardening gives the metal additional hardness and reduces moldability. Hardened steels and alloys have a non-equilibrium structure.

Tempering

Reduces or relieves residual stress after hardening, increases moldability and toughness, reduces fraility and hardness of metals and alloys.

Ageing

Occurs with mild heating or at a room temperature after tempering or heat treatment of steel and alloy billets. As a result of this method of heat treatment, some properties of metals change, viscosity decreases, hardness and strength increase, and the chemical constitution remains unchanged.

Cryotreating

Deep-freeze treatment , cooling to low temperatures increase the hardness and enduring quality of products made of steel and alloys, fatigue strength of parts, erosion and corrosion resistance. The essence of processing is in slow cooling to a certain temperature, keeping the specified time and a gradual return to room temperature. Products made using such metalworking increases details and mechanisms usage period to 300%.

The Research and Development enterprise “Centr Tochnoi Mechaniki” takes orders for metal processing on CNC machines of any complexity, including heat treatment and invites large enterprises, small and medium businesses to cooperate.
